These miss you nights…

I know, this still needs updating, the template needs finishing, the front page needs finishing, everything and anything is up in the air. There’s not a lot I can do at the moment I’m afraid - lacking reliable internet and what not. Once I set up EasyPHP and what not on this newly formatted mashup of a PC I might get chance to sort things out.

On a more excitable note, I start my second summer of work at 3-Wise Internet Solutions (who are also my host, <3) tomorrow. On top of that, I have three, maybe four, units still to finish for university due to my illness at the end of the first semester, my dissertation research, self elected research and other general course reading to do. That’s a lot, but that’s ok, because it’s all positive. I also have my own personal photography and internet projects in mind. My head’s a bit full at the moment, I’m sure you can imagine.

I took my Mister to his home for the weekend, gave myself a bit of a break during that time, to play Guitar Hero, spend time with him and generally do not much. It was gooood. It all had to end tonight though, ready for tomorry :( Oh, and yeah, it was some sort of five day weekend, haha.

My Mister took me to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie last week, I’ve always thought the storylines were silly, but the movies are certainly entertaining. Worth the look.

Keyword Activity - Something to make me smile!

M25 ghost! I’m curious, is there an actual ghost on the M25? Why was someone looking for that?

Also, someone found me by looking for Sesame Street… amazing.

As for my May goal, I tripped up already with it, but after today it’ll be back on I think.

I’m going to spend the day listening to Placebo, sorting out all my paperwork that’s necessary once one’s moved and working through old photos and backing them up…

This is amazing.

I was reading The Good Human today, and my attention was drawn to this collection of artwork by Chris Jordan. As he says:

This new series looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 426,000 cell phones retired every day. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs.

It definitely does that - even from the images there a scary reality is easy to see. I can’t imagine how those must appear in reality… or how long they took to produce. I am terribly curious. I may well have a nose around the net tomorrow, if I get time. IF. That’s a big if. Check it out anyway, you may be surprised!

May Goal

Just a quick note really, since I have so much to do…

I’m thinking for my May goal (I know it’s a bit late, but, moving!) I’m going to aim to eat at least 4 different fruits and veggies a day. I know they say you should have five, but, considering my number usually ranges between 0-2, it’s a change, and chances are if I’m thinking about it I will be more. I went to Sainsbury’s t’other day and spent way too much on fruit and veggies which will probably only last me until tomorrow anyway. That being the only food we have, my start’s been quite good. But thus far…

Sunday - sultanas, grapes, apple, cucumber, celery, whatever’s in a nut cutlet and a Grassington’s veggie waffle thing, sweetcorn.
Monday - sultanas, banana, grapes, cucumber, celery, red pepper, two satsumas…

Train Wreck

Just moved house. Everything is a big mess.
